Learn to read the book of nature. Bring that knowledge home.

Join Kyle Denton at Root Radical Herbal Academy for the Vital Herbalism Course, an online study of plants, people, and practical herbal care. Beginners will find a foundation to build upon, while experienced herbalists will find ways to deepen their understanding and refine their practice. Through taste, scent, form, habitat, and close observation, you’ll develop your own discernment and greater confidence choosing herbs.

We begin with herbal energetics, learning to recognize heat, cold, dampness, dryness, tension, and laxity. From there, we work through the body’s systems with comprehensive lessons on their functions, common patterns of imbalance, and herbal support, keeping the whole person in view. You’ll also learn harvesting and medicine-making skills to build your home apothecary and bring herbalism into daily life through teas, food, household remedies, and seasonal practices.

A new “branch” opens each month, with approximately six hours of prerecorded lessons to study on your own schedule. Setting aside two to four hours a week gives you time to watch, review, and put what you’re learning into practice. The course includes 12+ virtual herb walks, exploring plants where they grow through energetics, herbal actions, elemental and astrological correspondences, folklore, and stories from clinical practice.

We meet live for a Roundtable Review on the third Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. Central, from November 2026 through May 2027. These gatherings are your time to ask Kyle questions, share observations, and talk through the lessons. Between meetings, the community portal offers a place to exchange recipes, ask for help identifying plants, and learn from fellow students. Illustrated PDF handouts and a certificate of completion are also included.

You’ll have indefinite access to the course material, so you can return to it as your experience grows. Payment arrangements can be discussed privately before enrolling, and you may request a full refund within 14 days of enrollment, no questions asked.
