When the Sun enters into the sign of Libra it is said to fall, and thus the name of the season is explained. This is a sign ruled by Venus, which is the archetype of the senses and what it means to “feel.” The time of Libra is a great time to tend to the scale that weighs between the nervous system and the sensory/sensual body.  When the days become shorter than the dark night, it’s an instinctual moment in all of our epigenetics to feel the urge for self and soul evaluation. We have passed through the gates into the zodiacal underworld, the veil is thinning, and it is natural to seek solitude in the private realms. The scales of justice in the body are the kidneys, deciding what stays, what goes, what to hold on to, what to put behind us. Libra has a special relationship with the kidneys as well as the adrenals, the skin in its appearance, and the lumbar of the spine. I’ve considered all of these parts in deliberating the craft put into this medicine. For an air sign in air times, my goal is to work with herbs that help focus the nervous system while feeling exceptionally fly inside. Can you relate?
